Thank you Mint Hill for your support in the election.  I am truly honored and humbled and look forward to serving you in the next two years.

About the Candidate

After receiving encouragement from neighbors, friends and family and a time of prayerful consideration, I am excited to announce today that I am running for Mayor of Mint Hill.

I am a strong believer that public service and effective leadership are not practices that can begin when you decide to run for office but are a lifelong commitment to involvement in the community.

As a Mint Hill resident for over 35 years and local business owner since 2000, I have actively worked to serve this community.  My wife, Renee, and I raised our two children, Danielle and Darrall, in Mint Hill where they attended Lebanon Road Elementary, Northeast Middle, and Independence High Schools and played a variety of sports at Mint Hill Athletic Association.  I served the Mint Hill Athletic Association for over 10 years in several leadership roles, including as the association president.  During that time, I supported the continued growth of youth athletic programs in Mint Hill through the building of new fields and programs and worked to increase participation opportunities for our children.  I then had an opportunity to serve on the Mint Hill Park and Recreation Committee in 1999, contributing for 14 years, until transitioning to my current role on the Mint Hill Planning Board in 2013.  I have had the opportunity to be involved in decision-making concerning our local resources, offerings, and investments.

I have also been an active member, including president for two terms, of the Mint Hill Kiwanis Club since 2011, where I work diligently to support our Mint Hill schools.  I have organized fundraisers and events to support the Terrific Kids programs in our local elementary schools, provide books for students and teachers, and fund scholarships for graduating seniors.  Additionally, my service includes participation on the Mint Hill Chapter of Business Network International as president, Advisory Board for Yadkin Valley and First National Banks, School Board of Charlotte United Christian Academy, Homeowners Board of Brighton Park Townhomes, Property Association at the Crossing of Grassy Island and Board of Directors of Pine Lake Country Club, serving two terms as president.

In addition to serving in Mint Hill, I am also passionate about supporting our larger community.  I am a member of First Baptist Church of Matthews and have served in several leadership capacities.  Renee and I currently oversee the Operation Christmas Child initiative at First Baptist.  I volunteer to collect boxes and even had the unique opportunity to distribute them on a mission trip to Ukraine.

I am invested in the town of Mint Hill and dedicated to honoring the deep-rooted, family-oriented foundation while continuing to ensure it remains prosperous.  I appreciate your support as we continue to work together for the success of the town we love.
